The teacher will first write the sounds and then write the spelling that represents the sound in circles on a whiteboard. The circles represent each pop-it pushed. When the sounds do not match the spelling, we must remember the letter by heart. Teacher will write a heart symbol above that letter to remind students. 1. second= has six sounds: /s/ /ě/ /c/ /ǔ/ /n/ /d/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /s/=s, /ě/=e, /c/=c, /ǔ/=o, /n/=n, /d/=d. Draw a heart above the o. 2. really= has four sounds: /r/ /ē/ /l/ /ē/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /r/ /ē/ /l/ /ē/. 3. picture= has four sounds: /p/ ĭ/ /c/ /ch/ /er/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /p/=p, /ĭ/=i, /c/=c, /ch/=t, /er/=ure. Draw a heart above the t and ure. pelling dictation (2 minutes):The teacher will saythe following sentence S out loud and the students will write it down. The students will spell the best to their abilities, including the correct capitalization and punctuation. Afterwards the teacher will write the sentence on the board. The students will correct any mistakes they made, including capitalization and punctuation with a different colored pen. |
