Show Death In Your Hands Let it be understood I knew neither victim nor the circum¬stances which surrounded their deaths. I blame no one, it is not for me to judge. I only know they died. Death has taken his second victim of an automobile accident from our school A young man recently boasted that he had driven home in fifteen minutes from thet same game in Salt Lake City. Luck? I suppose so. Why take the risk when the odds are against you? True, it is a thrill to go fast, but gambling with lives, that don't belong to you, is hardly ethical. Death may strike again, a third time or fourth or tenth time, and just what can we do to prevent this disaster? Look at the person next to you! Take a good look, perhaps the next time the roll is called he won't be there to answer. Remember that you are responsible for those in your car and perhaps those in the other cars. It is up to you whether or not they go on living; or whether they live, crippled and blind—healthy and happy. You will say it is your life and that you have, a right to live it the way you desire, and, you will be correct, but value the lives of others regardless of whether or not your life is important. A Junior. Essay Contest an Opportunity "What Constitutes a Good American?" is the theme for the city-wide contest of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce. Americanism is something in which we all should evince an interest because it immediately concerns us. Furthermore, the contest is an opportunity, not only for expressing one's self, but also for winning recognition and reward. The pi ice asked in consider¬ation for these returns is only an effort, a determination, and a trial. Turn this over in your minds, students, and ask yourselves: "Well, how about it?" Stomo Ochi. It's a great kindness to trust people with a secret. They feel so important while telling it. |
