Show THIS MAN EYE This year we are fortunate in having as vice-principal of Ogden High School a man of such fine character as Mr. Eye. He is a man who will promote all of our student activities and since he is new to all of us, we want to let you know what a fine person he is. Born in Miltonvale, Kansas, he received his elementary edu¬cation in a small rural school. After promotion from the seventh grade he attended a rural high school. Upon srraduation he worked his way through the Wesleyn University of Kansas and obtained his Batchlor's Degree in 1925. About two months after graduating from the university, he landed a contract with the Big Timber County High School in Kansas. After two years at the county high school, he became principal of the Park City High School for a year. Buring the summers of 1925-1927 he obtained his Makers' Degree at Salena University. In 1928 and 1929 he was assistant principal of the Miles City High School in Montana. In 1950 he became superintendent of the Miles City school system and he held that position until 1937, when Mr. Hopkins offered him the position of assistant principal at the new Ogden High School, He came to Ogden to get experience in a large city and in a larger school system than those with which he had been previously associated, and to have a more desirable place to live. "I think my work in this office can be made successful through leadership in all activities rather than through enforcement of rules," states Mr. Eye. "There are a few problems that have to be over¬come by a few simple rules of conduct, which the majority of the students already accept. There is a tendency for ninety- nine and nine-tenths of the student body to allow the other one tenth to get away with actions which bring criticism upon the entire student body. I feel that when we get "real" school spirit functioning, students won't stand for these thing. "This school is blessed with more leadership than most of the schools I have been associated with. The student body president can do a great deal to promote school spirit, but we all should help bear the burden of the responsibility. "School spirit has been centered entirely around sports. I have been an athletic fan in both high school and college, and ever since then, but the point is I want other activities to hold an equal place in the interest of the students. "I mean to encourage all student activity" He has already shown his interest in encouraging student activity by his sponsoring of the noon-dances, which have given much pleasure to the students. In answer to the question "Do you feel that the students have been giving you very e-ood co-operation at the noon-dances?" he answered "Splendid! I am not particular |
