Show HONOR HERE Although we haven't noticed it, our drama department has "brought more honor and attention to O.H.S. than our ball teams! It is very active; every week the advanced class gives a play. These plays are very excellent and the only thing lacking is an appropriate audience. This department houses much talent. Dan Bailey wrote a one act play "His Final Hope." All who saw the play realized its excellence. The leading speech and drama students are as follows: (Miss Wooley also wished she could name all the students) In the play "Where the Cross is Made": Tilitha Ellis: also in the Ghost Train. Clyde Checkets: He received the only superior rating given for character acting for men in this play at Provo. Dan Bailey: Also the old man in the Ghost Train and excellent dramatic and humerous reader. Grant Neutaboom: Also in Ghost Train and humerous reader. Betty Ann Stuart: Director of the play and also a member of the Ghost Train cast. The four main readers are: (as represented in Provo) Dan Bailey; Joye Gregory: in the dramatic. Grant Neutaboom and Lottie Lund: humorous. All these students received honors for themselves and O.H.S. For speech geniuses are: Betty Lou Balch: first extemporan¬eous speaker. She always wins. She brought back honors from Provo, Weber College and Logan. Lamoine Suttlemire : (he of the mighty voice) winner of the D.A.B. orational contest. He also won at Logan. Other orators and extemporaneous speakers are: Telitha Ellis Mary Kariya Barbara Reeves Blaire Burton Reed Corey Debators of the year are: Heed Corey, Blair Burton, Carl Tanner, Keith Wilcox, Barbara Peeves, Betty Lou Balch. We have a large and capable department and Mr. Smith and Miss Tooley certainly deserve more attention than they have received in the past. Watch this department--it's always on the go! Ida Rose Langford Star Gazing T'would be awfully nice to gaze into the eyes Of Dick Powell across a tea table, Or to go for a ride in a trim little coupe with that dashing and daring Clark Gable. I'd love to go dining and dancing some eve With the debonair Bob Taylor; T'would be fun to go on a yachting spree With Popeye, the man who's a sailor. Horseback riding with Gary Cooper Would suit me to a T And a moonlight hike with Tyrone Power-- Oh goodness! Golly! Gee-e-e! For a dip in the surf with Tarzan, Ape-Man, I'd be willing, able and ready; Bur for romance and thrills, with its fevers and chills, I'll just take Nelson Eddy! A Student It's a poor corner that hasn't one gasoline filling station.--Life |
