Show School Days are the Best. Cont. Tennyson's philosophy, that even though our friends are gone, the good they did for us and the hap-piness we gained from their acquain¬tance will make their spirit permeate and influence our lives. We cannot forget them. Jennie Bekker. Our Intense Moments Alan Bader 4 Letter Man Captain, R.O.T.C. The assembly room filled hurriedly with excited students to receive awards and honors which they do not expect. Principal Merrill took charge, calling the assembly to order and giving his welcome speech to visitors, parents, and students. Gradually awards were given out, as each award was given shouts of excite¬ment and screams of joy were ex¬pressed by the students. Teachers were given the honor throughout the assembly to make the honored awards. This assembly brings to a close the successful two years of our seniors which have left to our new school a record that has to be beaten by a very chal¬lenging set of young juniors. Grad¬uation is the moment which makes new seniors and students with an unknown title. The school year has been full of intense mom¬ents throughout. The graduating class has been loyal and success¬ful this year "1938." Summary of School Year Ray Stewart Pres. Student Body major, R.O.T.C. At last the event so many stu¬dents have been waiting for has arrived; but now it is here we are not so sure we like it. Many of the students are enthused about the prospects of going to college. Others do not have such a bright outlook, for they will be on their own. I believe the school year of 37-38 will long be remembered as a banner year. In athletics, Ogden, ranked near the top in every event. It was something new for Ogden, to be competing with Salt Lake schools in the ''big four." There was not so much school spirit as in previous years. We hope however, that Ogden High competes in the Northern division the coming school year. Our choir under the able direc¬tion of Glenn Hanson made a name for itself, as well as the city of Ogden and our school, their trip to St. Louis was highly successful in every way. It has indeed been a privilege for the juniors who attended the old High School, to finish their senior year in the new high school. I sincerely wish to thank the student body, and the faculty for their splendid co-operation in mak¬ing this year the success it has been. |
