OCR Text	Show ST. LOUIS ( cont'd) concert. Good night, dear diary! April 1, Friday: Practised with Nobel Cain until noon, ate lunch, and practised some more until three o'clock. We then went to the zoo and had our pictures taken again. We broadcasted at 7:30, after which we learned where we placed in the contest. We went to the hotel and the manager was kind enough to let us roll up the rugs and dance to the radio. And so to bed April 2, Saturday: We went on a long sightseeing trip. A few of the things we saw were: a famous brewery, Shaw's gardens, the zoo, and the Jefferson Memorial where we saw the Lindbergh trophies. We went shopping for more souvenirs and went to the station to catch our train. April 5, Sunday: Had three hour stopover in Omaha. Ate in a cafeteria and went on top of a tall building to take pictures. Had community singing tonight where Mr. Hansen very kindly played the flute for us. April, 4, Monday Morning: Home at last. Everyone is joyous to be back. Students have arranged a heart warming reception and there are tears in the eyes of more than one of them. Finis . ANY GARBAGE TODAY? Good mawnin', Sister Betsy, You lookin.' peart today An' gittin' younger all de time; I mean jes what I say. Yessum, Ise doin' pretty good, My hawgs is gittin' fat; Some new folks down de alley heah Is what accounts fo' dat. Dey got Sis' Julia fo' de cook. Heah what Ise tellin' you! She gimme vittles ev'y day, An' white folks' vittles too. Dey live in de ole Allen house Whar ole Marse Jeter died, An', Lawd, de goin's-on dey has! I seen 'em F'om outside. I dunno is dey ouality, But sho's my name is Bill, Of all de customers I got, Dey has de swellest swill. The meaning of the gentle hint The boy friend did discern, And so he grabbed her be the neck And glued his lips to her'n.
