Show A SCHOOL PAPER AND SCHOOL SPIRIT The heads of the student body spend wasted time over lost school spirit. That school spirit isn't lost! It's here! But it must be encouraged and nursed as any neglected invalid. If you take a flower from the "old fashioned garden" and plant it in the foot¬hills, it isn't going to grow un¬less it is encouraged along. Well, such is the so said lost school spirit. Last year and the years before that, we had the best school spirit in the state. This year we haven't anything. Last year and the years before that, we were in a smaller building. We were crowded together with one main thought—not enough room. We knew every one and every one knew us, because we were pushed onto them in the between-class rush. In assemblies juniors were seniors, and seniors were juniors (except on the front row), Word could be passed around like a bee's sting in the nervous system, and things were done. No one was any better than the other person. We were all Ogden High School students. But them something happened. We were transported into new territory, into wide open spaces. We were left to wander about like a lost child . We soon saw all the sights and began to drift into the far cornors of roomy halls and rooms . Friends were few and far apart. Nothing was done to hold the student body together. It no longer became a student body. it is student bodies. None of us know of the activities until the school notes are read or an announcement made in assembly, but as stated before, they are too brief and concise to interest the student to the point of action. School spirit has backed away from the student eye and now it is sneaking behind lockers and doors. Give it a chance to show itself and it will step forth. The remedy? A school paper, of course. A school paper that will bind us close together into one; something that will inform us of particulars and arouse true interest; something we need and want! We can have it if we want it. Let us do something before our school spirit broods away to a mere complaint of a student body officer. Ruth Myers THE STAGE CRAFT GUILD The Stage Craft Guild consists of about 25 to 30 active members . Its primary purpose is to furnish ushers when they are needed, run all moving pictures, and take care of the lights. It also aids in producing sound effects for plays. Meetings are held, regularly on Monday right after school and a discussion on what has to be done in the near future is held and appointments of members for certain jobs are made. At times a there are programs provided by the entertainment committee. Dale Rommick GOSSIP: Why do some boys rock like a boat in a storm when they dance at noon? Peek-Peek |
