Honor Here!—Continued one of the solo contraltos in the choir. Florence Cashmore, mezzo soprano, was a soloist in the Christmas musical. She plays one of the first violins in the orches¬tra. So much for outstanding music students. How many have been out on the campus cheering them on to glory? We find this department has brought more attention and honor to Ogden High School than our ball teams. Without the diligent and tal¬ented work of Mr. Hansen, however, perhaps our music department would not have been so good, so don't for¬get the hand that has played a great part in the school spirit of our Alma Mater. Ida Rose Langford. On Our Assemblies A lot of students have been complaining about our assemblies. Some don't like them because we have too man., speakers and not enough skits. Others thing we ought to pep them up by having popular music instead of classical. Others just don't like them. If we students knew how much trouble our president and vice- president have in trying to make our assemblies interesting, we wouldn't kick. If they try to please the students, some teach¬ers don't think that we are being given what we should have. If they please the teachers, the students think assemblies are dull and un¬interesting. Every time they turn around someone objects. let's try to enjoy our assemblies. Editorial We'll have to be careful this year in selecting our student body officers! We'll have to watch that we do not elect those who are shift¬less and without pep. Of course so and so may be the most "beaut¬iful" candidate and he would probably look well on the stand under the gaze of an admiring public, but it would be a nice thing if there ere some brains behind that pretty face'. That does not mean that we want brains alone. Hot by a long siot I For does it mean that we should elect someone who came back with track honors, or because he never mis¬ses the basket, or that we should vote for the city mint! We want someone who is a "man of the people," a man who can make decisions without making the whole student body feel like boo¬ing him, a man who is a good leader—and remember that every one of these candidates will try to please the eye and the ear of the voter--so becareful before you say "I want so and so." Don't let yourself be swept away with petty promises and flattering phrases, for since there are no "babies to kiss," the candidates will surely use some tactics! And that is not all! What we need is someone who will not be ruled by a "certain crowd," but someone who will put across
