Show Our School Paper We need a school paper! The reasons are numerous. Student Interest It is said that there are three worlds, the one you live in, the one people think you live in, and the one that you would like to live in. I would like to add two more to these-- the "outside" world and the "in-side" world. The "outside" world is just as it states; the "inside" world is that which effects an individual or individuals person¬ally. It is also divided into different groups or sections, among these being the students' or school's. Now Hitler's taking Austria is the main interest of the "outside" world; the choosing of the queen or the pin isn't. It is an inter¬est of Ogden High and its students, and it should be developed as an interest of such. How can this be accomplished? Not very well, under the present conditions. We need something to inform us of the activities. Hot by announce¬ments or school-notes in the paper. These are too limited. It is details that acquaint, and it's an accquaintance that knits things a little closer. Wow I'm not against the school notes! They are alright; they inform outsiders as well as students, but not every one takes the paper or has time at home to read this. The space is limited arid the articles are, too. The main things are placed down with no color, just facts. The student reads tlem, puts the paper aside, and that's that. If there were more space, the article could be colored and made interesting so as to attract attention and so as to be given a little thought. You students know, say History for example, that if plain dates and facts are given, it is termed "dry". But when stories are given, examples and a few view points placed in, you are interested and learn more. It makes an impression. That's the law of average. It's only natural. Everyone is inclined to lake the easiest path, and its that path a school paper offers to give. I don't mean a path of least resistance; but the path of the ordinary man; the one that impresses. The one that binds ana holds interest. This is what our New Ogden High School needs-- and needs badly. Next week I'll discuss the school paper arid the School Spirit.
