Show LETRS based spelling curriculum 51 re six common syllable types: closed, vowel-consonant-e, open, vowel teams, vowel-r, a and consonant-le. Learning how to break words into syllables is yet another strategy to strengthen both reading and writing skills (LETRS page 253-266). ulti-sensory activities:LETRS indicates that multi-scensoryis helpful for practicing M irregular words. However many English spelling will have many different ways to spell the same sound, therefore exposure to the same sound but different spelling will need extra exposure and practice for students to practice those words such as with vowel teams, ect. pelling Test:LETRS provides a qualitative spellingscreener to give teachers the S ability to directly inform instruction. Following the progression of concepts and patterns that typically characterize student learning, the teacher can easily see where a student needs to begin within a scope and sequence of spelling development, see page 280-286 & B5-B11. This curriculum also provides a weekly spelling test that will assess students on the 9 spelling words from the week. One template has two spelling tests that may be cut in half just to save on paper. Another template has a pre-test and post-test for teachers who like to see the growth or to make instructional decisions before words are taught that week. However the LETRS screener should give teachers good information concerning what skills students need. eference: R Moats, L., & Tolman, C. A. (2019).LETRS: Volume 1& 2, Units 1-8 (3rd ed.).
