The teacher will first write the sounds and then write the spelling that represents the sound in circles on a whiteboard. The circles represent each pop-it pushed. When the sounds do not match the spelling, we must remember the letter by heart. Teacher will write a heart symbol above that letter to remind students. 1. answer= has four sounds: /ǎ/ /n/ /s/ /er/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /ǎ/=a, /n/=n, /s/=s, /er/=wer. Draw a heart above the w. 2. brought= has four sounds: /b/ /r/ /ǒ/ /t/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /b/=b, /r/=r, /ǒ/=ough, /t/=t. 3. favorite has four sounds: /f/ /ā/ /v/ /ō/ /r/ /ī/ /te/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /f/=f, /ā/=a, /v/=v, /ō/=o, /r/=r, /ī/=i, /te/=te. Draw a heart above the i. pelling dictation (2 minutes):The teacher will saythe following sentence S out loud and the students will write it down. The students will spell the best to their abilities, including the correct capitalization and punctuation. Afterwards the teacher will write the sentence on the board. The students will correct any mistakes they made, including capitalization and punctuation with a different colored pen. “I will invite my friends to play baseball.” Day 3 S ort pictures & words into VC-e and VC-e with compound word sort (5 minutes): We are only focussing on six spelling words that have VC-e and VC-e with compound words but there are many more words with open syllable two and three syllables.
