Show Mose Watkins SYRACUSE - Mose Watkins, 67, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden from an extended ill_ ness. : | He was § born July 9, 1940 in Eudo-| — ra, Arkansas, | g@ | the son = off | Frank and - Mamie Lee Wallace Watkins. He was | _ raised an edu-| co. cated in Og_ den, Utah. He attended Ogden High School, where he played _ three years of varsity football. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. ,. Mose married Tommie _ Oralette White on July 14, 1965. In that union they adopted two | beautiful children. They later di- vorced. _ Mose received his BS degree _in Sociology at Weber State Col_ lege where he also played football and was inducted in the Football Hall of Fame in 1988. _ He received his Masters Degree _in Social Work at the University of Utah. Mose continued to play football for the Calgary Stampeders, a Canadian professional — football league. He enjoyed boxing, where he was the Golden _ Gloves champion for 11 years. | He was the Center Director at * Clearfield Job Corp for 16 years, _. then later transferred to the Man- _ agement Training Corporation where he retired in the year _ 2000. Mose entertained many political dignitaries and touched the lives of many young men and women all over the country. _He married Beverly Kay Simpson Adams February :15, 1986. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake ~ Temple. , _- Mose was a member of the praca Sli a _ Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints. . He was a member of the Weber St. Alumni, NAACP, Board of Regents and Clearfield Lions, Advisory Council for Black Affairs and many others. Mose received many awards including the Out_ Standing Young Man Award of ' America. Mose had a special gift of making everyone ‘loved and welcomed. He enjoyed fishing, Sports and spending time with _ family and friends. Surviving are his wife Bever_ ly, children: Dwayne (Katherine) Watkins of OR; Nikole (Dave) Widdison of North Ogden: four grandchildren, Whitney, Airyka, Moses and Maurice, step-children:. Brad (Judy) Adams of Syracuse; Craig (Pam) Adams of Clinton; Sandra (Bill) Boynton, of Layton; Mark (LeAnne) Adams of Syracuse; Scott (Jennifer) Adams of Castle Rock, CO and 21 loving — step-grandchildren. seven great-grandchildren. Mose is survived by his stepmother Ruth Watkins, and 18 brothers and sisters from the Ford, Watkins, Black and Martin family and many nieces, — nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Evan _ Martin, Roger Martin, Ozell Watkins and one sister, Mary Watkins. : ‘The family would like to thank’ his long time physicians Dr. Senekjian, Dr. Agarwal, the Staff at McKay Dee Hospital.
