Dr. Janie Charles Holmes, International President 26 Fowler Street New Haven, CT 06515 June 12, 2009 To: Mrs. Emma Davis and the Davis Family Dear Sister Emma, Family and Friends: We were so saddened to hear of the death of my very special and beloved friend and supporter, Pastor Willie Davis. Then, as I began to pray and reflect upon his life and the many years he labored in God’s vineyards here on earth, leading souls to Christ, I began to rejoice knowing, that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Pastor Davis fought the good fight, he kept the faith, he finished his course and now he is resting safely in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Therefore, in a spirit of love, sympathy, and profound loss, I submit the following resolution: WHEREAS, the members of the International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows, Inc., comprised of members in 42 states, 11 Caribbean Islands, with a presence on five of the seven continents, representing 102 denominations, feel a personal served loss in the passing of the husband of our beloved Sister Emma Davis, as the Vice-President International Convention, and of the mid-Northwest who is dearly Region, and chaired our who 2005 loved, and stands tall in our organization, I offer this tribute of love and esteem in his memory on behalf of the entire sisterhood. WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow and sad feelings that we record the transition of Reverend Dr. Willie Davis from this earthly home. However, we humbly bow in submission to God’s will in calling him from labor to reward. 4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we the members of the AMWMwW, Inc. thank God for the privilege of having known Pastor Willie Davis. I pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort and sustain all of you, and help you to remember that “earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal’, as you continue to look to the hills for your strength. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution will be place in our headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.
