Cottrell, 90, passed away peace- fully June 21, 2009 at Mount Ogden Nursing Home, due to a bro- _ ken hip sustained from a fall in late December [2008. | He was the] , sixth child of|4 _ seven, born to F Mr. and Mrs. Richard = and} Cora Cottrell, in | Montgomery, Alabama’ on June 26, 1918. e | Richard | served in WWII from 1942 -1945. He took up tailoring in Cincinnati, - Ohio for four years prior to moving to Kansas City, MO and entering the service. After serving his country he moved to Utah to be near his two _ sisters and two _ brothers; Melissia Franklin, Georgia Turner, Wesley (Buster) Cottrell and | ~ Fletcher Cottrell. : He was married four times. : ~He had 11 children with his sec- | ond wife Reba Y. Cottrell; eight -sons and three daughters; they later divorced. He married Susan Stark who had a daughter from a “previous marriage, Rachel Stark ~who later took the name of Cot| trell; they later divorced. “= Richard worked at Defense | “Depot Ogden for over 32 years; -he also had jobs waiting tables at - Porters and Waiters, and Thiokol -and sewing. After he retired he Began selling old cars. “. He was preceded in death by “three sisters and two brothers, — four sons, Richard, Baron, Fred‘die and Douglas. He leaves behind his childrer, _Irad Y. Austin, Richetta Alexan- ‘der, Byron U. Cottrell, Darrell A. Cottrell, Wesley R. Cottrell, John | LR. Cottrell, Cora D. Johnson and Rachal Marie Cottrell; 32 grand- children; 21 great-grandchildren; sister and favorite Aunt Georgia . Turner; and a host of nieces ae, nephews and friends. He loved his grandkids and — loved feeding the homeless in _later years. He will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at Myers Mortuary -Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden on Tuesday, June 30, -2009 with Pastor Davis officiat‘ing.
