Show OGDEN-Mattie Mae Hall Kelly, 87 passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at McKay Dee Hospital. | | Mattie Mae Hall Kelly was born January 24, 1921 to Mr. Cassie Hall and Mrs. Courtney Bloodsaw Hall in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Mattie, Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Sister Aunt, Cousin, and Sugha. She was called by most as Mom, Mrs. Kelly, Mae and the Fat Cat. . Mattie married A. J. Kelly on October 18, 1938, in Brookhaven, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2002. To this Union was born five children, Mattie was educated in the public school in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She Joined the New Hope Baptist Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi atan early age. Mattie and A. J. moved to Ogden, Utah in 1950. She was employed at Hill Air Force Base for 29 years as an Aircraft Painter. She united with the New Zion Baptist where she celebrated 50 years of service in 2007. She loved her church. She looked forward to the Prayer Band coming over to visit with her. She would sometimes bake a cake. She always enjoyed cooking for everyone who stopped by. Mom would feed the homeless and the misplaced. They loved her and called her mom. One of her favorites was Little Feather (Raul Galindo) and everyday or so, he would bring her flowers that he picked around town for her and they were always lovely. Mattie’s hobbies were cooking, watching the Utah Jazz. She loved Carlos Boozer. Mom had her circle of friends, relatives, and loved ones, that called — her to make sure she was watching the Jazz game. She loved her family and her son-in-law more than silver and gold. Holidays were always special because her family and friends would always be with her. Mom loved — everyone. She will be greatly missed oy all. Mom’s favorite Scripture was the 23" Psalms; The Lord is My Shepherd I Shall not want. Surviving are her two daughters: Lovey (Vernon) Hairston of West Haven, UT, Rosie Tillman of New Haven, CT., one brother: Benny Hall of Roy, UT, five grandchildren, ten great-grand children, one great-great grand child, Many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three children, three sisters, four brothers, one grandchild, and one great-grand child. A special friend Pat Prestwich, that called her numerous times everyday to make sure she was o.k. Thank you Pat from the bottom of our heart. We love you. A God daughter, Annette Carpenter that she loved and cherished and always wanted the best for her and did everything she could for her to make sure she and her daughter’s were cared for. Thank you Godmother. We will miss you very much and will never forget you. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at McKay Dee Hospital who went that extra mile caring for our mom. | |
