Show ee Willie Z. Brock Willie Z. Brock, 81, of Ogden, Utah went to be with our Lord at the Mount Ogden March 26, 2011. Health and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, | mn Ui) a Willie was born in Aberdeen, MS, Charlie Lee Brock and Sarah Pruitt. on April 6, 1929 to the union of He graduated from Aberdeen Colored High School. He went on to attend and graduate from Alcorn A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of agronomy science. After college graduation Willie was drafted into the United States Army and served approximately four years. After the military tour of duty, Willie attended the University of lllinois and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Soil: Science. Willie met and married Dula Gray at the University of Illinois‘in _ Champagne-Urbana on May 11, P 1955. They made their home in smi Michigan where he worked as a° Soil Scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A job transfer took them to California where he worked for the U.S. Forest Service. In 1977, the Brock's made their home in Utah where Willie later re- — tired from the U.S. Forest Service after 32 years. He worked for the Ogden Community Action Program in the Weatherization Program and later retired from the Program. Willie also worked for Delta Airlines at the Salt Lake City International Airport as 13 years. a Postal Carrier for Sports was Willie's passion throughout high school and college and also while he resided in Michigan, Caliak fornia and Utah. Willie attended Alcorn A&M on a football scholarship in addition to obtaining a barber license and worked as a campus barber. He coached and refereed little league baseball to American League Softball, Pop Warner Football to high school and flag» football. Willie also coached the New Zion Baptist Church Young Men's Basketball team in the Ogden Church League. As an Usher at the Salt Lake City Energy Solutions Arena, Willie enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz basketball games and other sporting events. Willie was an active member of the New Zion Baptist Church in Ogden where he served as a Sunday School teacher for over 30 | ot He also served in the Finance and Laymen Ministries of the. : church. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers f i and one sister. Willie leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Dula; three children, Jacquetta (Walter) McGlothan, California, Vincent Brock, Washington, Shardel (Michael) Guinn, Texas, Stanley, Dean and Brenda. Three grandchildren, Demetrius, Griffin and Nia; three great-grandchildren, Griffin Jr., Xzavion and Jordan; two siblings, Dorothy Neal and Walter Brock both of Benton Harbor, MI; and a host of nieces and nephews. Willie also leaves a loving New Zion Church family, a host of friends from the community, Delta Airlines, the Utah Jazz Team tions Arena. and Ushers of the Delta Center/Energy Solu| Willie Brock was full of love, respect and compassion for every- one. He loved well and was well loved. We will miss you!
