Show Obituary enjamin Charles Beal Sr. was born July 4th, 1947 in Rosebud, Texas. He was born to the union of B. . & Dessa (Jones) Beal. He was the 5th oldest out of 14 (6) brothers & (8) sisters. As a child, he attended Morning Star Baptist Church and at a young age made an intelligent decision to live for the Lord. In 1955, he moved to Ogden, Utah with his family. Benjamin attended Ogden High School, and graduated with honors in ROTC in 1965. He helped as much as he could assisting with the upbringing of his younger siblings, cooking, taking turns to meet his mom at the bus stop to walk home with her after a long days work, always looked out for his brothers & sisters making sure they knew how to defend themselves, made sure that the house was in order, and that the siblings were in the house on time. After the death of his father June 4th, 1967 he and his eldest sister Odessa Dawkins came up with the funds to get the family a GTO for transportation. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 after briefly attending Weber State College. Benjamin was transferred to Fort Hood, Texas for his basic training. He was a member of the 121st Airborne Division. His specialties were Airborne Ranger, Lieutenant Weapons Infantryman, Sharpshooter (Rifle), Green Beret of the 121st Airborne Division. He received several honors for his service with the U. S. Army which consisted of: A Purple Heart, National Defense Services Medal, Vietnam Services Medal, 3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietham Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Meritorious Unit Citation. After serving in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, he received honorable discharge for serving in Vietnam. Once he returned home although he was an adult, he worked, helped with things around the house, and he remained respectful of the curfew that he had at his mom's house when he returned home, just like a good, upstanding, respectful son. The positions that he held consisted of working at Hill Airforce Base in the Commissary, Greyhound as a Bus Driver, ZCMI as a salesman, Pendleton as a Security Guard, Wells Fargo as a Armored Truck Driver, he was a driver for Ogden City Transit, he attended truck driving school in Indianapolis, while in the Philippines he managed a group called Artificial Energy, He was a Counselor at Clearfield Job Corps, Activities Director for Marshall White Center, and a proud member of the Utah Travelers which was a quartet group that he sing and played the lead guitar in with his Uncle Babe Ruth Jones. Benjamin met Patricia Martin at New Zion Baptist Church in November1?71 another, and he suggested that they go out. where they spoke with one He had to ask her Uncle Bud’s permission, and since he was a respectful young man her uncle agreed to allow them to go out. They started dating the same month... They were in love, and decided to become one on May 13th, 1972 where they were united in holy matrimony in Summit, Mississiopi by Rev. Alton Wells where they resided for 4moniths, while there Benjamin worked as a Construction worker. |
