Show Richard McCall Cottrell Jr. ~ Richard McCall Cottrell, 90, passed away peaceful June 21, 2009 at Mount Ogden Nursing Home, due to a broken hip sustained from a fall in late December 2008. He was the sixth child of seven, born to Mr. & Mrs. Richard and Cora Cottrell, in Montgomery, Alabama on June 26, 1918. | Richard served in WWII from 1942 -1945. He took up tailoring in Cincinnati, Ohio for 4 years prior to moving to Kansas City, MO and entering the service. After serving his country he moved to Utah to be near his 2 sisters and 2 brothers; Melissia Franklin, Georgia Turner, Wesley (Buster) Cottrell and Fletcher Cottrell. | He was married four times. He had 11 children with his- ~ second wife Reba Y. Cottrell; 8 sons and 3 daughters; they later divorced. He married Susan Stark who had a daughter from a previous marriage, Rachel Stark who later took the name of Cottrell; they later divorced. Richard worked at Defense Depot Ogden for over 32 years; he also had jobs waiting tables at Porters and Waiters, After he retired he began selling old l and sewing. and Thioko | | Cars. -_He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers; 4 sons, Richard, Baron, Freddie and Douglas. ~He leaves behind his children Irad Y. Austin, Richetta | Alexander, Byron U. Cottrell, Darrell A. Cottrell, Wesley R. Cottrell, John R. Cottrell, Cora D. Johnson and Rachal Marie Cottrell; 32 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister and “favorite Aunt” Georgia Turner; and a host of nieces and | nephews and friends. | | He loved his grandkids and loved feeding the homeless in later years. He will be missed. |
