Show 7 March, Saturday. Los Angeles. Dr had breakfast with Ezra, who with Gladys has spent the winter here and I rested after spending some time visiting the Drs planned to visite their neices & nephews who live here, and Gladys & I spent the day shopping around. Had lunch at Bullocks & saw the fashon show etc. Also spent some time at I. Magnes one of the most modern & beautiful stores in America. At 5 P.M. Dr Royal Hendricks wife came to take us to Ventura. She is a new wife and very nice. They took us out to a nice dinner & Dr showed them his pictures later. EARLY ROMAN FIRST AID Military medicine developed remarkably in Imperial Rome. Germanicus and Trajan in particular furthered the medical treatment of soldiers, the latter even personally attending the wounded. By the time of Hadrian, every legion and every ship of war had its physician. These physicians immunes were exempt from combat. The illustration depicts a detail from the Trajan column, showing an advanced dressing station. Sunday, March 8. Ventura Calif. Spent the night with Royal & his wife (Dr Hendricks) a nephew after a fine breakfast they took us for an Auto ride all morning. We drove over to OhJo a beautiful Valley & town. Orchards everywhere then out to Airport where we had landed in Juniors plane two years ago. It is now used for defense & hundreds of planes are on the field. After lunch they took us the Beach drive to Los Angeles and left us at Dr Will H. Pettys where we were invited to have dinner with Robert I. & Mrs Burton, I.M. & Mrs Cooley & had a very pleasant evening. He destroys his health by the pains that he takes to preserve it VIRGIL. WARNERS CALENDAR OF MEDICAL HISTORY. Dr Russell Petty phoned his parents of the arrival of a son. Born at 7 P.M. |
