Show Work Train Taken Off On Saturday Career Ends J. W. Linford . . . Heart attack proves fatal to former college instructor. Death Takes Ex Teacher Of Woodwork LOGAN James W. Linford, 67, proprietor of a Logan upholstering company and former instructor at the old Brigham Young college, died at his home, 140 West First North street, Tuesday at 8:30 a. m of a heart attack. A bishop 12 years in the Logan Twelfth LDS ward, Mr. Linford served a total of 27 years in Logan First, Second and Twelfth LDS ward bishoprics and was prominent in other church organizations. He was born on February 2, 1875, in Paris, Idaho, a son to Joseph W. and Mary Rich Linford. He spent his childhood in Paris, later moving to St. Charles Idaho. He had been a resident of Logan since 1905. Taught in College He was instructor in the Book of Mormon and also mechanical arts instructor at the old Brigham Young college in Logan until that institution closed in 1926. While there his woodwork exhibits won state wide honors at the Utah state fairs. In September of 1926 he joined the faculty of the Logan senior high school, where he taught mechanical arts until his retirement in June, 1938. Since then he had operated his upholstering shop. He filled an LDS mission to New Zealand from 1902 to 1904, was a former member of the Logan LDS stake high council and was a member of the stake high priests quorum at the time of his death. Survivors Listed He married Edna Hulme on October 9, 1901. She died in 1931, and a year later he married Beatrice Edwards. Survivors include his widow; one son and one daughter, and two stepsons, Wayne and Boyd Cooper of Logan, Gene H. Linford of Camp McCoy, Wis., and Mrs. Glenn Bingham of Manti; four brothers and sisters, A. R. Linford and Mrs. Eliza Denio of Salt Lake City, Mrs. George Gibbi of Pocatello, Idaho, and Mrs. Mervin Bunderson of Brigham City, and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the W. Loyal Hall mortuary of Logan. Friday, October 22. Rather cloudy had intended to go to Logan with Drs Ezra and Edward Rich to attend funeral service of their nephew James W. Linford 67 yr old son of their half sister Mary Rich Linford who died of heart attack Oct Tues. 20 at his home in Logan. He was a very fine man a school teacher for many ears also active church member of L.D.S. Dr Heber Hancock had dinner with me. Oertel called. Dr Junior our son telephoned from Stockton that he would fly home tonight for a deer hunt tomorrow.
