Show 5 October, Monday. this afternoon attended Medical Aux. held at the home of Mrs J.R. Morrell. First meeting of the season. Was named on legislative Com. with Mrs Moyes. Called on Mrs Amelia Flygare a dear friend. Recd a grand letter from Junior on the 3rd. FEE FOR THE SPIRIT Many African medicine men, modestly, make no charge for their own services. They do, however, refer to powerful spirits that have aided them by revealing valuable secrets, and ask that the patient only pay something to the co operating phantom. As an instance, one Cape Coast doctor would order a patient to bury a few bottles of rum in the ground, as honorarium for the spirit consulted. Tuesday, October 6. Attended Relief Society was ask to speak. The first meeting for another years work. Few members present owing to so many of our women doing war work at Hill Field etc. Dr and Mrs. W.H. Petty of Los Angeles Calif. had dinner with us this evening. Maren E. Hardy went home form the hospital today. Blanch and Cleone called today. A buisy day. it is a step towards health to know what the complaint is ERASMUS. |
