29 March, Sunday. Dr and I attended Fast meeting in Mt Ogden Ward. Joe & Myrenes baby girl was blessed and given the name Mary Brewer. Dr pronounced the blessing and Joseph W. Brewer her father, Iva McKell nd a member assisted. She is a very beautiful baby. We had dinner at Myrenes. She is a dear mother & wife. I went to a geanelogical meeting to hear Bro Card of S.L.C. Tempe speak. This evening Dr & I went to hear Bro Card in the Mt Ogden Ward. A wonderful message to all. HIERONYMUS BRUNSCHWIG (C. 1450 TO 1533) In Brunschwigs Buch der Wund Artzney (1497), appeared the first detailed account of gunshot wounds. Such wounds, in his opinion, were poisoned and could be best removed by promoting suppuration. Brunschwig as an army surgeon did no major operations, only treating wounds, bone setting and amputating. To check hemorrhage from the amputated stump, he applied actual cautery or boiling oil.
