Show 26 April, Sunday. Dr & I went to S.S. in 5 Ward then drove to Salt Lake had a nice dinner with Mr. & Mrs Elias Nielsen they went with us to the reception of Pres. LeRoy Cavoles at the Union Bldg. We called on Aunt Em (Fred) Rich Oren & Mae Cozzens William Shepard who is now 8 yr old. Very fine man and an old friend. Drove home in a slight snow storm. Spent evening reading. Also called on Maren E. Hardy to see our great grandson. RICHARD WISEMAN (1622 to 1676) Contemporary of Sydenham. He served in the Dutch and Spanish navies, later becoming Sergeant Surgeon to Charles II. His principal work was the Several Chirurigal Treatises. He also gave an authentic account of the Kings Evil. It is recorded that he amputated skillfully, cutting bose the diseased part, and employing primary amputation in gunshot wounds of the joints. Monday, April 27. Finished floors. News says Hitlers grip on people weakening. The 45,1065 group of U.S. men were called to register today. Pres. Roosevelt offers a programme to hit high cost of living. Quite a number of our men are meeting with acidents in the air and loosing their lives. Nature never deceives us; it is always we who deceive ourselves ROUSSEAU.
