Show 7 September, Monday. A FEE UNPAID Englands King Charles II was seized with an apoplectic fit. Present at the time was his physician, Sir Edmund King, who promptly bled him without first deigning to send for another physician. According to court regulations, this was wholly irregular, almost requiring a pardon. Nevertheless, the king was relieved and the Privy Council granted the physician a thousand pounds. But neither king nor Privy Council ever paid the fee. Tuesday, September 8. Dr is having a siege of boils under his arm. Yesterday is buried forever, and tomorrow we may never see VICTOR HUGO. WARNERS CALENDAR OF MEDICAL HISTORY. |
