Mrs Amelia Flygare, Lettie Manning, Judge Howell and I waited on the City Commission regarding tax on paving our D.U.P. property and it was settled for 1.00 Judge paid amt. Total Amt against D.U.P. was 956, 50. AMBROISE FARE (1510 TO 1590) At one time a rustic barbers apprentice, who knew no scholarly Latin but wrote his treatises in his native French, Pare came to be regarded as the greatest surgeon of the Renaissance. He paved the way for modern methods, breaking with centuries old precedent to abandon the barbaric use of boiling oil and red hot irons in wound cauterization. The illustration shows Pares first attempt at tying ligatures. Thursday, April 9. Dr is Seventy four yr old today. is enjoying good health looks tall & handsome as ever and each year seems to make him more dear not alone to me but to all the children & 27 grandchildren. He has recd from those away lovly letters telegrams & gifts and This evening Oertel and Myrene had a grand dinner for all the children here & they gave us (as it is our 47th wedding day also) a wonderful electric Waffle iorn.
