HIPPOLYTE MORESTIN (1869 to 1919) A brilliant exponent of plastic and maxillofacial surgery during the war, Hippolyte Morestin had devoted himself almost exclusively to this branch of surgery since 1904. He also made many contributions to anatomy and wrote a treatise on diseases of the joints. A dexterous operator in all branches of general surgery, he performed such difficult feats as his methods in sliding hernia, spinofacial anastomosis, wrist resection, and interilio abdominal amputation.
