Show 25 June, Thursday. Have had much to do today. Rest some in afternoon not very well. U.S. may have to scrap iorn fences etc. SIR WILLIAM MACCORMAC (1836 to 1901) Belfast, Ireland, was the birthplace of Sir William MacCormac, but his name became internationally renowned, possibly more so than that of any British surgeon with the single exception of Lord Lister. He saw a great deal of military surgery in the Franco Prussian and Turco Russian Wars. To the surgery of the joints and the abdomen, and especially in his pioneer operations for intraperitoneal rupture of the bladder, he successfully applied Listerian principles. Friday, June 26. A stormy day. Acacia field day planned for Lagoon but storm prevented. We met at Joan Emmetts and enjoyed the picnic very much in a comfortable place. David Peery our grandson came to spend part of the summer with us. he is nine yr. old came by train a lone. He is a dear boy and we are happy to have him visite us.
