Show Mrs. Clydies Finn OGDEN - Mrs. Clydies Finn (90) was born on January 21, 1917 in Lumber, Arkansas. She went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2007. She was the daughter of Mr. Arlander Wesley and Mrs. Odessa Dockery Wesley. Clydies’ early formative years and early schooling were completed in Stamp, Arkansas. Clydies married James Halley in 1932. From this union three children were born; James Jr. (deceased), Gazie and Bernice. They were later divorced. She married Ray Finn on April 11, 1952 in Ogden, Utah. They were married for over 55 years. Ray’s departing words are that “God will be with Clydies until we meet again’. Clydies was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church for over 62 years. She was very active in the Mission, Sunday school, and served on the Usher Board for over 55 years. Clydies also sang with the Usher Board Harmonett’s for over 20 years. Throughout Clydies life, she trusted in the Lord and maintained an enduring faith in God. Clydies was Past Matron of Queen of the West Chapter No. 17 of the Order of Easters Stars. Clydies worked in several jobs during her lifetime. She worked for Sears, L.R. Samuels, Woolworths and retired from DDO as a Warehouse Packer. Clydies leaves, to cherish her memory, her husband Ray; her loving daughters Bernice Champion, Gazie Jackson, (both of Denver, Colorado), Verna Finn Walker, Dorothy Finn Cotton and Helen Finn Hood all of CA. She also leaves behind 26 grandchildren; 46 greatgrandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and a “Godson’, Melvin Hampton Jr. of Ogden. Clydies is survived by her loving sisters Mrs. Bina McCowan and Mrs. Jimmie Lee Bell of Ogden, Utah and Mrs. Deborah Jordan, Phoenix, Arizona and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and two sisters. Clydies favorite scripture was Il Timothy 4:7-8. “I have fought a good fight, | have finished my course, | have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”. |
