Show 24 May, Sunday. Dr and I went to Sunday School. Had dinner with Cleone. Spent rest of day home. PIERRE FRANCOIS PERCY (1754 to 1825) About the time Larreys ambulance was introduced, Pierre Francois Percy built a wagon which, because of its long, low construction, was known as Le Burst after the German Wurstwagen. Seats were arranged lengthwise, and in it the stretcher bearers and their surgeons, together with stretcher and medical supplies, were taken into the battlefield to aid the wounded. Clumsy and heavy the wagon soon fell into disuse. Monday, May 25. For centuries science has played the part of Cinderella HUXLEY. WARNERS CALENDAR OF MEDICAL HISTORY. |
