Show 20 August, Thursday. Dr quite ill today temperture of 2 degres this A.M. 1 and a half this eve. Junior gave him two shots of medacine & a blood camit has been made showing improvement in white corpusels. Myrene, Cleone & Oertel are entertaining for Junior tonight at Myrenes canyon home the Browning & Rich family. Sorry Dr & I are not able to be with them. Dr Ezra Gladys & Edith Rich called Mrs D.R. Wheelwright & Mrs Aldos Dixon I rested for a while today. Drs tem 103 degrees. THE POOR RICH PHYSICIAN Henri de Mondeville, fourteenth century surgeon, died poor in spite of his extensive clientele. His many bitter experiences in fee collecting account for his unorthodox attitude toward the question of compensation. He advised the young surgeon to begin by asking for twice as much as he wanted, to double pay if a horse was used invisiting, and never to dine with a patient in his debt lest hospitality be deducted from the fee. Even royal patients, Mondeville learned, neglected to pay their physicians. Friday, August 21. Sharlenes birthday. Drs father C.C. Richs birthday This is rather a had day for Dr & me. Dr is not so well has temp of 103 three degrees and is restless. Did not have a good night. The party for Junior last night was very nice the girls gave him a very nice brief case. We are going to miss him very much especially his father they have been real pals in their profession for 16 yr. Junior expects to leave for the cost (Santa Anna) to enter the Service as Major in Medical Corp of Air tomorrow. He has always been a very dear boy to me.
