Dr Junior E Rich left for Santa Anna Calif. to enter the U.S. War Service his wife Blanch went with him. He drove his car which he intends keeping there. It was very hard to see him go as he has been in practice with his father for 17 years and has been a comfort & great help. He left both his father and me just recovering from serious sickness. Utah Liquor Sales Said Increasing SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 23 Utah liquor stores sales amounted to 574,785.50 during August, compared with 515,309.54 in the preceding month and 382,622.33 in August, 1941, an increase of 192,163.17 during August of the two years. Net profits during August were 180.898.81 compared with 98,912.20 in the same month of 1941, the report of the state liquor commission showed. An increase of 94,312 in retail liquor sales in Idaho for August as compared with a year ago was reported by Fred Davis, liquor dispensary supervisory. Sales last month totaled 460,457. Army Liquor Ban Urged U.S. Senator Elbert D. Thomas will be asked to seek favorable action on S.B. 860, which would ban sale of intoxicants at or near army camps, as a result of a meeting of the liquor tobacco law enforcement committee of Salt Lake City and county LDS stakes held Thursday in the Beneficial Life building. Frank Mozley, chairman, said the senate bill recently was reported out of committee without recommendation for action. Mr. Mozley and Dr. Joseph F. Merrill, chairman of a church wide committee on liquor tobacco law enforcement, said 130 wards of the county will be asked to send communications favoring the bill. |
