ARE You READY Below is a "To Do " list for Emergency Preparedness to discuss with your family: - Draw a floor plan of your home and mark 2 escape routes from each room - Have a meeting place inside and outside the home. - Learn how to turn off the water, gas and electricity at main switches. - Post emergency phone numbers near phones. - Teach children how and when to call 911, police and fire. Checklist Item: • Flashlights for each family member (place by beds) • Battery operated Radio - Instruct household members to turn on the radio for emergency information. - Pick one out-of-state and one local friend or relative for family member to call if separated by disaster. - Keep family records in a water and fireproof container - send copies of these items to a trusted friend or relative.
