Show Marriott-Slaterville History November 2009 Bill Morris is meeting with every resident on 400 North about the road project and getting permission and permits signed to reconstruct driveways and other improvements. They must be in place before requests for bids can be issued. The reconstruction is tentatively planned from March 1, through July 31, 2010. The road will not be completely closed because Mulligans has requested that access for his business, and there may be occasional "lost" trucks. BDO has committed to re-route trucks within its control to 12th Street. The road will be asphalt all the way except for 300 feet on both sides of 1200 West. Mayor Butler reported that the Trunk-or-Treat was a great success, and that the Fall Clean-up went well, with no complaints, and heavy use of the dumpsters. Rob Smout asked if the Cub Scouts could place a recycling bin at the city office for newspapers. Some council members expressed concern about the proceeds being spread evenly between the troops in the city. Councilman Kim Slater expressed concern over the aesthetic appearance and standing water issues at the UDOT storm water retention basins on 12th street and I-15..He thanked the Mayor and staff for the letter to UDOT about striping at that area. He also wants 400 North re-striped at 1900 West. Mayor Butler is working on that road striping project. Councilman Delbert Hodson said the new firepit at Marriott Park looks very nice. He asked about accessibility for small children to the playground equipment. Trent Meyerhoffer said that once the playground is complete and filled with wood chips, it should be easy for small children to access it. Mr. Hodson asked if Questar is leaving the old gas pipe in 1200 West. Mr. Meyerhoffer said Questar will removed only the exposed parts of the pipe and abandon the remainder in place. Mr. Hodson asked if Questar was going to repave 1200 West. Ken Martin said Questar is contributing a portion of the cost for an overlay and chip seal on the portion of 1200 West they are disturbing, and the city will need to budget the remainder. The November issue of The Pioneer Post brought information about snow removal in our community. Parking on public roads during and after a snow storm is restricted, as vehicles impede snow plowing, and may be towed at owner's expense. The most traveled roads are plowed first; the least traveled (including subdivisions) are plowed last. It is the property owner's responsibility to remove snow from the sidewalk on their property within 24 hours. Garbage cans should be moved from the road shoulder as soon as possible after collection. The Weber-Morgan Health Department has placed a drug disposal lockbox in the lobby of the Municipal Complex for disposal of any outdated or no longer needed pharmaceuticals a resident has. We were reminded of the November 30, 2009, deadline for nominations for the annual community awards. This is our opportunity to recognize someone who goes above and beyond in service to the community. Senior Companions who are healthy adults over the age of 55, are needed to help other adults live independently. Qualifying persons receive a stipend of $2.65 per hour and mileage reimbursement. A CERT Christmas party will be held on December 3, 2009, beginning at 6:00 p.m., for all CERT members and any resident 18 and above who is interested in joining the City Emergency Response Team. Dixie Little is in charge of the event. On November 3, 2009, members of the Weber County Sheriff's Department served the Senior dinner. They introduced those in attendance from the Sheriff's staff, and gave important advice on Protecting Your Privacy. Keeping an Eye on Your Private Information. 168 |
