JOEL FRANDSEN State Forester/Division Director December 28, 2009 Marriott-Slaterville C/O Bill Morris 1570 W 400 N Marriott-Slaterville UT 84404 RE: Tree City USA Dear Bill Morris: The Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands received and reviewed the Tree City USA application for Marriott-Slaterville's 5th re-certification. I have submitted the application to the National Arbor Day Foundation with a recommendation that Marriott-Slaterville has met the required standards and should be approved. If the National Arbor Day Foundation has any questions or concerns, we will contact you. This year, we will be presenting the Tree City USA awards to each deserving community at our annual Municipal Forestry Luncheon. The Southern Utah Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, April 6 in Santa Clara and the Northern Utah Luncheon Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in West Valley City. Please mark you calendars and plan to attend this event. If you are unable to attend the luncheon, contact Morgan Mendenhall, your Area Forester, at 435.752.8701, to coordinate a time to receive your Tree City USA materials. The Tree City USA materials are a great way to promote your city's urban forestry efforts during your local Arbor Day Ceremonies. If you would like Arbor Day ideas, or if the Division of Forestry, Fire & State Lands can be of assistance, please contact your area forester. Thank you for your commitment to urban and community forestry in Utah.
