Show Marriott-Slaterville History February 2009 The council participated in the NIMS-FEMA Training held recently, and briefly discussed NIMS compliance requirements. The new Maverick Service Station was welcomed to the city by Mayor Keith Butler, at the council meeting. The city met with the WFRC and is receiving a substantial amount of Federal funds to reconstruct 400 North, with the city providing a match to these funds. Vital statistics for our city reported in the February issue of The Pioneer Post, listed 22 births and six deaths during 2008. Bits and Pieces Tad Scott Grange, son of Stephen and Shiloh Grange, was born February 17, 2009. Dax Adam Rowley, son of Robert and Neisha Rowley, was bom February 21, 2009. Eldon Meyerhoffer, died February 3, 2009, at the age of 63. Kenneth James Woolf, died February 8, 2009, at the age of 78. A youth group from the First United Methodist Church in Marriott-Slaterville City, participated in a 40 hour fast ending February 28^, as part of an international observance sanctioned by World Vision, who helps feed the hungry. During their fast they participated in service projects including raising money for World Vision, bagging food at the Ogden Food Bank, and serving dinner Friday night and lunch Saturday to the homeless at St. Ann's Center, lt was the 14th year the church has participated in the event. An unidentified 22 year old man from Marriott-Slaterville turned in front of another car on Wall Avenue near 17*1 Street. The impact flipped his Ford Ranger upside down onto the top of a car stopped at the red light at the intersection. Did the date of Friday the 13^ of February bring his bad luck? 145 |
