20 JANUARY 19 DAYS PAST Monday 346 DAYS TO COME beautiful day. At 11. A.M. Cleone took me to S. L.C. I had lunch with Mrs. George N. Curtis previous to the Womans Auxiliary to the Salt-Lake Co Medical Society. I was invited to speak on Life in Print so I gave Life in Picture, Letters, diary & record keeping. From expressions it was enjoyed and edifying. Was presented with lovly flowers and Cleone Joyned in for their Tea. Arrived home at 6. P.M. Did up my house work & retired early after preparing dinner for Dr. COBWEBS IN WOUNDS A small boy accidentally cut his finger with a kitchen knife. The father, adhering to an old superstition, got some cobwebs and with these he tried to stanch the flow of blood from the wound. This practice almost cost the boy his life, for a month later he developed typical symptoms of tetanus. It was a narrow escape. Tuesday 20 DAYS PAST JANUARY 21 346 DAYS TO COME Have worked some on getting Jrs book material in order. Did not go to Relief Society but never seem to accomplish much when I do not. Have called over the telephone to ask about several friends who are ill. There is still a lot of Flu. Dr and I read until after 10 P.M. radio news. There is great suffering in Europe and one wonders why it should be so. Just too much to record.
