Show 6 APRIL 95 DAYS PAST Sunday 270 DAYS TO COME This mornig Dr & I took Aunt Mary and her son to Salt Lake. We listened in the Auto to Conference by Radio. Had lunch and went into the Tabernacle at 12-30 to get seats for the 2 o clock session. It was a wonderful sight and we voted to sustain the brethren who were named to assist the 12 apostles also Elder Harold Lee as a member of the 12. Took Aunty Mary over to the Utah Hotel Dr got her a nice room for the night and she expects to leave with friends by Auto at 5- A.M. for Mesa. Her son Burton from Calif was at Con. He is Pres of a stake in Los Angeles. Dr is very hoarse so we came home early. MEDICINE MAN- DRUM-BEATIN The Alaskan medicine man beat the drum and all present yelled loudly. Finally, he broke it and sent for a larger one and another still larger, both of which were also soon broken. The old woman with the swollen face felt no better, so they strangulated her. If the biggest drum could not expel the disease spirit, then it could only be gotten rid of by destroying the body that harbored it. Monday 96 DAYS PAST APRIL 7 269 DAYS TO COME Dr has quite a bad cold We had a letter from Oertel and Dr a lovly card from & six lovly linen Hkfs for his birthday. My Blood pressure in 250 over 110 so I must be more quiet but that is hard for me. This evening we drove up to see Ezra & Gladys. They are feeling real well considering Annie passed one week ago today. It is a blessing for Ezra that he has Gladys his eldest daughter who can be with him & keep his home. Physicians are the cobblers, rather the botchers, of mens bodies; as the one patches our tattered cloths, so the other solders our diseased flesh- JOHN FORD WARNERS CALENDAR OF MEDICAL HISTORY |
