The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins.

OCR Text	Show Carol chased a strange man out of the house with a cleaver. She was alone at the school home. 26 AUGUST 237 DAYS PAST Tuesday 128 DAYS TO COME I went to Salt Lake with Oertel and Oscar. Had lunch at Z. C. M I. with Oertel after which We went to Makoffs. I bought me two lovly dresses for 12 price. One white & one navy blue print Jacket suit. Spent the rest of the day at the Research Beauro. Sent to the to the Temple the sealing sheets for my great grand father Orrin Phelps Merrill and wife Emily Phelps Merrill Merrill and their family of seven children. Am very happy to have this done as I remember her very well and was her first great grand child thro her son Dudley Justin & granddaughter Emily Merrill Cozzens. Mary went to the Hospital. SWEET POTATOES AND NUTRITION Three human subjects were placed by Adolph and Liu on a white sweet potato diet from five to eight weeks. Amount consumed in three daily meals varied from 1,700 to 3,400 Gms. In addition, one subject received one pear daily and the two others were given one bowl of cabbage soup a day. All three continued in good health, though they tired quickly on strenuous exertion. (Chinese M. J., April, 1939.) Extra warm day Wednesday 238 DAYS PAST AUGUST 27 127 DAYS TO COME Mary was operated for operated for appendicitis by Dr Junior and Dr Edward Rich this A.M. at 10 30. She had a kink in the Apendix and some information She stood it very well tho her blood pressure is low & blood count. Not so good. We are indeed thankful she is here. Oertel has stayed at the Hospital with her all day and I stayed from 7 to 9 until special nurse came on. (Dee Hospital) Dr and I attended the funeral service of a dear friend Sister Rose Drake Ellis. She was a wonderful women and has a fine family. Rose Nielsen visited me awhile after the service.
