Show 29 JULY 209 DAYS PAST Tuesday 156 DAYS TO COME Oertel Janath and I went to Salt Lake to do shopping. I bought me a lovly pink chiffon formal for Janaths wedding. Called to see my brother Orin who has been away for four yr. The mid summer sales are and there are so many nice things in cloths at half price. Oertel and I attended a lovly Tea given by Mrs. G. L. Becker & her daughters a their lovly home in Ogden Canyon. COLCHICUM- DRAMATIC PAST The history of colchicum is intriguing. One of the first drugs of which there is record and which was used medicinally by the ancients, its most valuable properties remained unknown or were only guessed at until recently. Its reputation was sinister. In ancient Egypt, it was called the blood of Thoth. A species of colchicum was recommended for gout in the sixth and seventh centuries by Alexander of Tralles and Paul of AEgina.
