Edward B Rich (7 yr) stayed here tonight with the boys. MEDICAL INSTRUCTION IN MIDDLE AGES In the Middle Ages, at the time that the great medical schools at Salerno, Padua and else-where were beginning to flourish, textbooks were scarce. For this reason, instruction in medicine was given to groups in pedagogic manner as typified by the picture from L Ecole de Salerne by Meaux Aint Marc. Because the Salerno School harks back to the eleventh century, it is interesting to note the women in this group.
