Show Faire Standard NICHOLAS DRANEY/Standard-Exami- UVlS VID«P WWW.standard.NET Eric Dunton hands a lance to Shane Adams during the jousting event at the Renaissance fair in Marriott-Slaterville on Friday. Catch action online. said he had been chatting happily since the family arrived. It's their first year attending, but Earl said it will become a family tradition. It's a common theme. Carolyn Pearson and her husband, Lee, were working at the forge and foundry because they enjoy the people. She said this is the only Re naissance fair they go to, because they're locals. "I love the history. All of these people love the history," she said. "And it's fun to play dress-up." Even the guests get to dress up. The ticket price is cut in half if the fairgoer is in costume. Despite Bodily's best ef forts, the modern world still makes a few appearances. A man with a bow and quiver of arrows stood in a corner talking on a cell phone. A vendor put a plastic binder out on the display table. And the water pump for the animals broke and Bodily had to find someone to go pick up a new one. "The knights will be triad if their horses don't have, water, and I don't want my animals to go thirsty, either." The fair is in its fourth year and continues to grow. Bodily said attendance has about doubled every year and she's hoping between 15,000 and 20,000 people show up this year. 4Q |
