Show Obituaries 2009 Building in Evon Quin Murray MARRIOTT/SLATERVILLE - - Evon Quin Murray died of a heart attack May 31, 2009, at McKay- Dee Hospital, surrounded by his family. Quin was born September 7, 1927, in Logan Utah, to Evon Thorpe and Martha Mifflin Murray. He lived 4 years on the family farm in Whitney, Idaho. He moved to Ogden in 1931. He graduated from Ogden High School. Quin served in the Army Air Force in Japan in the Army of occupation. He enjoyed his assignment and loved the country and the people. He attended the church in General Douglas McArthur's Office Tokyo. Quin attended Weber State College, where he received his Assoc. Degree, earned a BS Degree at Utah State University, and received his Masters Degree at the University of Utah. Quin was employed at J.G. Read Bros, while in school. Upon graduation, he went to work for Ogden City Schools where he taught for 33 years. Quin was a member of the Marriott-Slaterville 1st Ward where he served in many callings, including Ward Finance Clerk, Sunday School Superintendent, and Ward Family History Specialist. He also served at the Family History Center. Quin loved riding his bike for exercise while collecting aluminum cans. He enjoyed going to yard sales, where he collected bikes to repair and sell. Many knew him as the "bike man". Quin married Donna Fae An- derton on September 1, 1948, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised 5 children. His family was the pride of his life. Survived by his wife, Donna; three sons and two daughters: Josephine (Boyd) Fisher, John (Nancy) Murray, Robert (Teresa) Murray, Bart (Penny) Murray, Yvonne (Chris) Campbell; 16 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; one brother; one sister and one grandson. Quin extends love and thanks to all his friends and neighbors. " May God bless all who touched my life." Spencer SLATERVILLE - Connie Hooper Spencer, 75, passed away from kidney failure at her home on Monday, September 7, 2009 with her loved ones near. Connie was born on September 15, 1933 in Ogden, Utah to Conrad and Evelyn Ogden High Burgi Hooper. She loved spending time with her sister, Gloria Jennings. She graduated from School. She married Jesse Spencer on February 17, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The greatest happiness in her life were her two children, Phillip and Joy. Upon her marriage to Jesse she became a homemaker and spent the rest of her life in Slaterville. Connie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints and particularly enjoyed being a visiting teacher coordinator for 14 years. Being a part of the Red and Purple Hat Society brought her joy. Knitting and crocheting slippers for every baby, wedding, birthday and grandchild was her trademark. Hundreds of people cannot think of Connie without thinking of the slippers she made for them. Her favorite things to do were watching old movies, talking endlessly with her close friends on the phone and savoring chocolate. Connie loved being a grandmother and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was special. Her grand- kids knew they were always welcome and loved and could find a good treat. Surviving are her children, Phillip (Louise) Spencer, Marriott-Slaterville; Joy Zapata, Twin Falls, ID; sister, Gloria Jennings, brother-in-law, Wesley (Lenore) Spencer, her dear cousin, Verna May Boss and lifetime friend, Zelma Bailey. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Carter and Hagen, who have all been the light of her life along with her many nieces and nephews whom she loved. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Health Watch/Caring Hands Hospice nurses and aides for their nine months of tender, loving care. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Marriott-Slaterville Chapel, 250 No. 1500 W. Friends may call at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, Utah.
