Rich Adam takes care of city finances, the IRS, writes checks and keeps the books. In turn, Mr. Morris thanked the Mayor for all he does and his excellent job on the budget; the city has no debt due to his hard work. Danny Brown was thanked for his work on the Park Committee. Mr. Slater asked about the Planning Commission's approval of three lots with only 100-foot frontage on land owned by Joe Deru; he thought frontage must be 150 feet. Mr. Morris noted that the frontage can be reduced to 100 feet for moderate income residents, and referenced the regulation in the municipal code. Lloyd Vit has been charged with the junk accumulation on his property near Mill Creek and 1-15. The city allowed 90 days to clean up the property after which clearing the criminal charges would be dismissed. Mr. Vit appealed his case to Magistrate Orvil Holley with the hearing held this month. Mr. Vit represented himself, and Mr. Morris represented the city, with both sides arguing the case. Chris Allred, Weber County Attorney, assisted Mr. Holley. The city is awaiting Mr. Holley's decision. The recently renovated portion of Interstate 15 was recently named one of the best construction projects of 2008. The 1-15 NOW project and the project's construction team, Granite Construction Inc., were recognized by the Associated General Contractors of America with the Aon Build America Award. The 10.5 mile project from 31st in Ogden to 12^ Street in Marriott-Slaterville was expanded from three lanes to four, and from 12th Street to 2700 North in Fan West from two lanes to three. It was completed three months ahead of schedule and under budget. A free educational series for caregivers will be held at Weber Human Services, 237 26*" Street, in Ogden, beginning on March 20, 2009, and continuing through May 15, 2009. Mayor Keith Butler issued Official Proclamation, No. 2009-01, on March 31, 2009, supporting National Arbor Day. He recognized the volunteer time of residents who planted trees in the gardens behind the municipal complex, and urged all citizens to plant trees in the community. Bits and Pieces Bryton Barrow, daughter of Justin Barrow and Cydney Pacheco, was born March 16, 2009. Wayne Dale Campbell died on March 6,2009, at the age of 61. George G. Mahas died on March 14, 2009, just four days before his 85111 birthday. Chester F. Hawkins died on March 24, 2009, at the age of 87. 148 |
