Show Death Calls Leader of Womens Club Activity Mar 31-41Was First President of Medical Association Auxiliary One of Ogdens prominent leaders of womens organization, Mrs. Annie Low Rich, 71, wife of Dr. Ezra C. Rich, one of the wests outstanding surgeons, died in a local hospital Monday at three p.m. after a short illness from undetermined causes. Born in Providence, Sept. 26, 1869, a daughter of William Walker and Helen Budge Low, early Utah pioneers from Scotland, Mrs. Rich spent her early life in Cache county and in the Bear lake section in Idaho. Married in Logan She was married to Dr. Rich in the Logan L.D.S. temple June 29, 1892, and then went with him to Philadelphia, where he completed his studies at Jefferson medical college. They returned to Ogden June 1, 1894, and had resided here since. A member of the L.D.S. church, she had lived in Ogden Second ward most of her life. Recently, except when residing in Ogden canyon, she had lived in the Twelfth ward. The last few years she and Dr. Rich had alternated their residences between Ben Lomond hotel and Ogden canyon. Mrs. Rich was the first president of the auxiliary to Weber County Medical association. She had also served as president of the Martha society and the Ladies Literary society, in which organizations she had been very active. During the first World war she was chairman of Weber county social service. Having gone to Denver, Col to take a special course to prepare her for this work. Besides her social life, she contributed greatly to community service in many ways. Members of Family Surviving are her husband, a son, Dr. Clark L. Rich of Ogden, and three daughters, Gladys Rich of Los Angeles, Mrs. Lelia Rich Wright of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Helen Rich Moyle of Pocatello, Idaho; a sister, Mrs. H. B. Campbell of Providence; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at two p. m. in the Ogden tabernacle by Bishop David S. Romeny of the Mt. Ogden ward. Friends may call at the residence of Dr. Clark L. Rich, 2733 Fillmore, Wednesday evening and Thursday until one-thirty p. m. Entombment will be made in Aultorest mausoleum under direction of Lindquist & Sons mortuary. |
