Show 6 MAY 125 DAYS PAST Tuesday 240 DAYS TO COME Did not go to R.S. Went to Salt Lake City May 7- Had my first orchid given me by Blanch & Junior May 7th had a nice letter from Richard. Ruth & Cloteel from San Francisco. A gift & letter from my sister Lucile in New York, a letter from Mary from Menlo Park Calif, a letter & book from Avon in Oakdale Calif. A telegram from Oertel, Gift from Gladys & Hellen Rich from Rupert & Gladys Knowles a gift. Also other friends remembered me. PETROLEUM AS A REMEDY Bedouins soak linen rags with asphalt to rub into the wounds of their camels. They treat the mange of greyhounds and their own scabies with the same substance, making promades and salves from it. This Bedouin procedure was known to acient Chaldean, Babylonian and Egyptian physcians. They used petroleum and its derivatives as poultices and plasters in wound healing, as well as against internal diseases. (A. Forbin, Presse Med. 38, No. 16). Wednesday 126 DAYS PAST MAY 7 239 DAYS TO COME I am seventy years old today and it has been one of the happiest in my life. I am very well and have many of the fine good things in life to add to my comfort & happiness. A kind lovable husband and splendid devoted children all of whom I have heard from today by telegram, letters & gifts. A very beautiful chair was given me by them, also a delicious birthday dinner at Cleones at which all who live here & in S.L.C. were present. Dr presented me with a beautiful diamond ring the nicest I have ever had. Also recd gifts & flowers from others.
