Show Great excitement McAffees havent returned 1st Day of Rich Reunion. Camp Fire etc. 2 AUGUST 213 DAYS PAST Saturday 152 DAYS TO COME Searchers went out and after some time found the McAffee boat which had been turned over. By the storm at seven last night Miss McAffee was rescued from the up side down boat where she had clung on all night and was about to give up. As her mother lay floating dead and her father had said you stay with the boat and I will try and swim to the shore which was some miles away. The body of the mother was brought in but the father is still being looked for. Dr has assisted Boyd the son who did not go with them because he is ill. Oertel, I and others have assisted in their care all day. AUGUST 31 DAYS Zodiac: Leo. The Lion. Named in honor of Augustus Ceasar. The old Roman name was Sextilis, the sixth months from March. Diseased most prevalent: Summer diarrhea of infants, acute intestinal diseases, typhoid, paratyphoid, infantile paralysis. Sunday 214 DAYS PAST AUGUST 3 151 DAYS TO COME A damper is cast over our spirits since this terriable tradgey of the McAffees. Miss McAffee who clung 18 hr. to the end of a boat in ice cold water has showed great courage for a girl of sixteen. We rubbed her for hours and administered hot coffee & stimulents. She is fine this A.M. & sitting up this afternoon. Sixteen of our emediate family are here to the Reunion about 350 members of the C.C. Rich family are present. A nice programme and dinner. Dr Ezra C. Rich is now Pres. as he is the oldest living son. James Linford a grandson was chairman of Prog.
