Death, Famine Lead Chaos in Fallen Nations By United Press The execution or dondemning to death of 29 more dissidents, the shooting of two German customs guards in France, closing of the Oslo schools and such starvation in Greece that thousand of tons of food were shipped from Turkey by joint consent of the British, Germans and Italians, featured Tuesdays reports of chaos in occupied Europe. The London radio, heard by the United Press listening post in New York, also reported that nine Frenchmen had been executed for participating in patriotic demonstrations, 20 Belgians executed in reprisal for the killing of two nazi soldiers, and 24 Yugoslavians condemned to death for undisclosed crimes. There was no confirmation of these reports from other sources, however. In Servia, the military governor ordered the death penalty for farmers who fail to harvest their corn by October 25, contending that communist gangs have been hiding in the fields. Twelve were hanged or shot in Bohemia-Moravia for economic sabotage or illegal possession of firearms.
