Show Feb 13 - 24 Ogden High School Notes The Rev. C. C. Wilson will address Miss Cortez' history class, room 219, at 10:15 o'clock tomorrow on "Current Topics." Dr. R. H. Draper gave an interesting talk before the girls' class in hygiene and sanitation on Monday. The assembly will be called at 9:30 o'clock on Friday of this week. The Rev. Harry O. Anderson will speak on "Mark of a Man." Walter J. Mead will sing a solo and will also lead in community singing. Explanations of the number and nature of the concessions at the annual Classicalia will be given at ! Friday's assembly. The auctioning of the booths .will take place at a special assembly to be held on Thursday, February 21. Earl Murray, manager of the Classicum accompanied the basketball team to Tremonton last Friday. He was so impressed by the "beauty" of that burg that he decided to remain over a few days. He will likely return to school today. ANOTHER WOMAN. A woman told Frank Francis that she always read his "News and Views"' just before retiring. He suggests that probably she did this to insure speedy and peaceful sleep. A woman told a nigh school senior that she could hardly wait for The Standard-Examiner to come out so she could read the O. H. S. Notes. They thrill her so, and get her so excited that she must needs have several hours to "calm herself" before retiring some nights. So Salt Lake rifle team beat Og- den by 11 points. Just enough to prod the boys on a "Dlt. Wait till j the Hearst shooting. Miss Dora Smith, librarian, was forced to absent herself from school on Monday on account of tonsilitis. Miss Kathrine Huss substituted for Miss Smith. Students were treated to a grand surprise when they returned to school this morning. At exactly 9:30 o'clock every student in school enjoyed the privilege of taking a review test in English grammar. The test was given and graded by the teachers of all departments. The results will be given to the English teachers, and a summary report of the examination will be given at the close of the week. The teachers were given an opportunity Monday to contribute to the Boy Scouts drive. They embraced the opportunity of contributing at the same time to the Girl Scouts. "We know no sex," said they, "and we are just as much interested in the welfare of the girls as the boys." Just a little more than a week -- to the great annual cadet hop! The 1R. O. T. C. officers promise an affair of unusual interest and brilliancy. The San Francisco Examiner had a feature article last Sunday on the "Big Interest Displayed in the Hearst Shoot." It presented a map of the United States showing the number of schools in each state participating. This paragraph taken from the article is of particular interest to Ogden people: "Shooting will continue until March 15. By that time the various San Francisco and California teams participating believe they will have out-scored the vaunted championship team of the Utah high school at Ogden. The winner of the last two shoots." You've another "belief" coming, San Francisco and California. Mrs. Kate Sprague is putting a 2 lot of pep into the high school '. cafeteria department these days. Any knick-knack dish or sweet meat that can be purchased any- where in the neighborhood to help fill the "void" that comes about noon time can be purchased at the high school cafeteria. A placard announcing a "class school contest" for all the schools i of Ogden was posted today. Janitors, teachers and students are urged to develop pride in keeping school buildings and school grounds clean and attractive. The game Tuesday night between Ogden and North Davis terminated just as the students thought it 1 should and would. The final score, 45 to 15 in favor of Ogden, was! about what was oxpected. |
