Anyway, there is still room for improvement and that's why we are here. REPORTS GOOD WORK. O. T. He asks for a copy of our student body constitution. CHARACTER EDUCATION. Several teachers of the high school have received letters recently from High School Inspector S. L. Williamson, asking how t ie ; particular subjects they teach may contribute to the subject of char- j acter education. j Character building is receiving j j much attention throughout the i country, as a neglected part of the school curiculum. There cannot very well be a course in character education, but it must needs enter into the teaching of every subject in the gradei as well as the high school. It adheres also to every play, game, ' social activity Of the entire school life. The effective teaching of character grows out of practical application of moral principles in all social relations both within and without the school, . PICKING A HUSBAND Recently the high school girls ( were given a talk on the subject of "Mating." Now of course this subject isn't in the high school t curriculum and usually doesn't re- c ceive much attention, but never- theless it is one of paramount ( importance and should receive more attention from parents if not ( from teachers. People all over the world are thinking about it and every once in a while we hear ( about some one who has done some good work gJcng this line. - t The current issue of Colliers tells the story of a Boston woman in a finishing school who has in- culcated some good wholesome doctrine in thousands of girls to , their everlasting advantage. Here are five of her rules in judging a man: , See him in work-notice his attitude toward his associates. See him when things go wrong. , See how he acts in a trying ; situation. Determine his attitude toward his mother. And remember, society manners are merely superficial. Add love and the marriage will be a success. It is claimed that no girl who has come under this woman's influence has made a marriage that ended in divorce. I HHHi- qo - |
