Show Councilman Delbert Hodson feels the citizens of our City pay a very high fee to have sewer. Mayor Butler said some cities subsidize sewer, which we do not, and he feels that our residents pay a fair rate. Both Councilman Kim Slater and Mr. Hodson feel that Central Weber Sewer is not a very good neighbor. Mr. Slater told of problems which have occurred in his personal dealings with the Sewer District. After discussion, Resolution 2013-J passed unanimously. April is the time of year that Mayor Keith Butler spends many hours working on the budget. He is committed to frugal spending. Because of Increased costs associated with the new sheriff contract, business license fees were Increased to bring them up to current day costs on January 1, 2013. The previous fees were 12 years old and had not been updated with the rising costs of law enforcement. No Council Meeting was held in July 2013, but residents were kept up-to-date by the July issue of The Pioneer Post. At the June meeting the City Council adopted the budget for Fiscal Year 2013-14, as presented by Mayor Butler. After months of planning, it was again a balanced budget, with a modest surplus to set aside for future capital projects. The "no property tax "policy continues with this new budget. Our city is one of the few in the state that operates without a municipal property tax. 9 |
